1,844 is the number of dinosaur species that ever existed, as estimated by a University of Pennsylvania paleontologist and a Swarthmore statistician.

527 is the total number of dinosaur species that have been discovered so far.

    It sounds too low for a 160 millions of years span of their reign

    other species, other than dinosaur may have existed but 1,844 is also a huge number of species.
