Extract Greenhouse Gases and Get Rich

Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson will pay $25 million prize to the first scientist who comes up with a system for extracting greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
$975,000 is the fine that companies would pay for causing environmental disasters, under a new law proposed in the European Parliament.

High Inflation Rates

1,594% was the estimated annual inflation rate in trouble-racked Zimbabwe in January – the highest in the world.
4,000% is the inflation rate predicted by the International Monetary Fund for Zimbabwe by year’s end of the prices continue to soar and the government doesn’t devalue the currency.

Flying High

An Australian storm carried two paragliders 32,000 feet high – 2965 feet higher that Mt. Everest.
Eva Wisnierska blacked out for 40 minutes during the ordeal, in which she suffered only frostbite and minor bruising. The other glider, He Zhongpin, was killed by lightening.

Merger of XM and Sirius

The value of the proposed merger of XM and Sirius, the only companies licensed to offer satellite radio in the U.S.
Both companies charge $12.95 monthly fee, which consumers advocates fear will increase if the deal is approved.

Replace dollar bills by coins

Dollar coins can circulate for 30 years compared with 18 to 22 months for a dollar bill.
