Extract Greenhouse Gases and Get Rich

Virgin Group chairman Richard Branson will pay $25 million prize to the first scientist who comes up with a system for extracting greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.
$975,000 is the fine that companies would pay for causing environmental disasters, under a new law proposed in the European Parliament.

I understand Mr.Branson that you care strongly about helping slow down the effects of global warming by setting this ‘competition’ offering a very generous amount of money.
However you seemed to have overlooked the fact you wish to blast off into space and begin space tourism, surely this will have an effect on global warming?

Vickie: You are right to some extent but I guess the entire approach to deal with environmental issues so far has been solely focussed on prevention and not much effort is being taken to come up with technologies which eliminate such issues altogether. In that regard this is a good step.
